Dr Poe Lim (Dentist)

To earn his dental qualification, Poe graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Honours). From his graduation in 1990, he worked in Cowra, Central Tablelands, NSW. He remained there for more than eight years. When his fiancée (now wife) began her doctoral studies at the University of New South Wales, he returned to Sydney. Dr Frank Harding was retiring from practice, making his surgery the perfect opportunity for Poe.

Laser and Implant Dentistry

Since many people feel nervous about going to the dentist, Poe provides the latest in laser-assisted care. Our Kavo KEY Laser 3 is the only laser around that can detect and remove decay, leaving your healthy tooth structure alone. In some cases, this laser may eliminate or reduce your need for injections or drills when getting a filling. If your tooth needs to be numbed, Poe can utilise The Wand, which assists in the injection to minimise discomfort. You also have access to a needless injections system called Injex.

Starting in 2007, Poe began placing dental implants for people who wanted an alternative to dentures. He has completed Nobel Biocare’s Implant Surgical Level 2 (Level 2 Mentor Program). Additionally, he has gone through their advanced tissue management and implant procedures program.

Additional Training on Aesthetics and Function

Poe has long been interested in aesthetics and occlusion. Occlusion (bite) problems can influence the head and neck muscles, causing headaches and soreness in the body. When his patients would show such symptoms, he wanted to find a way to assist them. During this search, he discovered the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). There, dentists are taught about neuromuscular dentistry and holistic treatment. It combines Poe’s love of creating attractive smiles while relieving the symptoms of malocclusion. Through LVI, Poe completed Mastering Neuromuscular Occlusion and Comprehensive Aesthetic Reconstruction, both Level 2 courses.

From 2011-2013, Poe served as President of the Northern Suburbs Dental Study Group. Two years later, he was awarded a Fellowship in the International College of Dentists, which is the largest honour society for dentists. He is a member of the Australian Dental Association.

Outside of Dentistry

In Poe’s spare time, he likes to explore places off the beaten path with four-wheel drive or scuba diving. He often works in his productive garden and has a love for trying out new gadgets.
