I attended an information evening last night for the above new products from Philips. Both were shown (from Philips research) to improve gum health, at the same time to making it easier to use.
The AirFloss uses air and a small amount of water to clean between the teeth; the concept looks to be good, as although it would not substitute for floss completely, it does improve gum health, and is quick in use. I feel it will be a big help for people with multiple implants or bridges to clean those difficult to reach areas.
The DiamondClean is the latest sonic toothbrush from Philips, with a redesigned bristles and beautiful industrial design. From their research, it cleans about 3% better than Oral-B’s Triumph (probably not the newly launched version though), but retails for 50% more (probably over $200 in stores). I invite comments on whether you would be happy to pay 50% more for the 3% improvement, plus great industrial design.
ADX12 Sydney will be held later this week (from Friday 23 to Sunday 25) at the Sydney Convention Centre in Darling Harbour. Visitor registration is free; check out the link above, and see what’s new in the Dental Industry.
